Did you know there is a great App to help visitors to the south of Scotland find their way around and discover hidden gems during their stay?
The App is from the team behind the Scotland Starts Here website. And there is tons of great stuff on the App that you won’t see on the website.
For example you can follow in the Footsteps of Robert Burns when you visit Dumfries and see the places where this great Scottish poet lived, ate and made merry. Or there’s a very different audio walking tour of Dumfries…. the Mostly Ghostly tours team have done Stories from the Dark Side of Dumfries with ghostly/ghoulish tales in different locations around the town.
Or pop in the car and delve into the times of the Covenanters with a driving audio tour taking you into a dark period of the region’s past. Or see what the Southwest Coastal 300, which passes through Wigtown, has to offer as an inspiration on where to head to next.
For those wanting to explore closer to Wigtown, there is a great walk from Galloway House to Eggerness Point taking in fantastic rhododendrons in the House gardens in spring and following the coast along to Garlieston Beach and out for a fantastic view of the larger Wigtown Bay.
In addition you’ll find music to listen to, events to go to and a map to help you locate your next meal or pub stop.
It is truly a great resource for anyone travelling through the region and we’d encourage you to download the app so you can give it a go once you are here.
