Galloway Hoard comes home

In 2014 a metal detector enthusiast found over 100 diverse objects dating from the Viking age in a Galloway field. It became known as the Galloway Hoard and it includes silver and gold objects and rare textiles. It will make a return to Galloway from 9 October 2021 in an exhibition hosted at the Kirkcudbright Galleries. This Viking-age Treasure was buried around 900 AD and has been cleaned and preserved and is currently on display at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
